My journeys and I...
At the risk of sounding cliched and utterly unimaginative, I’d say travelling has always been my passion.
This passion became a full-time hobby when I wrote an amateur memoir about our pilgrimage to Kailash Mansarovar in 2012. Kailash Mansarovar is a deeply revered abode of Lord Shiva by the Hindus worldwide, and a journey to this formidable Trans-Himalayan region is arduous, to say the least. The fact that we could complete this mountainous trek was heroic, no less. I wrote a long memoir to keep the memory of that trip alive and shared it with friends and family. This memoir was very well received. I felt it would be a shame not to share my wonderful travel experiences with travel-lovers like myself.
Journeys2memories is simply a compilation of all my first-hand travel tales over the years, with all the must-dos and must-sees, and the highs and the lows that come with travel.
So far, I have visited over 200 cities worldwide, each offering its own unique flavour. During the course of these travels, I’ve had some memorable experiences…. watching the Bullfight in Madrid… the Cabaret in Moulin Rouge, Paris… visiting the Plitvice Lakes in Croatia…. trekking to Bohemian Switzerland in Czech Republic…. visiting the salt mines in Hallstatt, Austria…. seeing a Mozart Music Concert in Vienna…. doing a Gondola ride on the Grand Canal in Venice….whale watching in Victoria, British Columbia…..seeing the majestic Angkor Wat Temple in Cambodia ….among many others.
My travels within India have been no less interesting, from the mountains in Ladakh to the temples of Khajuraho to the backwaters of Kerala. I intend to keep adding more blogs in this category in the future.
Apart from writing travel memoirs, I also like to dabble in short stories and poetry, many of which got recognition and were published, while others are waiting on my laptop to see the light of day. I plan to add a separate section of that to my blog soon.
There is a big world out there still waiting to be explored...
May the journey continue...
